How To Find The Right Phonics Game

Just like some kids prefer to play xbox versus playstation, or the wii vs nintendo DS, the same can hold true for when a child decides what kind of phonics game they will like, or believe they will like, even if it's based solely on the idea of other input, such as what they have enjoyed before. They may have never played hooked on phonics games before, but that won't really stop them from using their past experiences in the gaming world to judge what kind they will like. I don't really see the harm in this either, they are going to choose what kind of game they want, and there isn't a lot you can do to take that away.

Let them pick their favorite then just stand back and let them enjoy it. It could be racing, sports, trivia, whatever, as long as they are playing, it's going to be just fine. Enjoy the games you want, and don't let anyone tell you anything different, it's not what is important. If they don't like the game they choose, then just let them switch. Maybe they will find a game they never thought they would like, and you will still be teaching them how to read!
